Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday! I remember reading many of Dr. Seuss' books to my children when they were little. My daughter enjoyed listening to "Are You My Mother?, which is about a little bird asking the question to many animals. What is your favorite Dr. Seuss' book?

Happy Birthday, Rosemary Wells!! Today, January 29th, is Rosemary Wells' birthday. In honor of her birthday, a Read A Story volunteer read the book, Noisy Nora, to the children at the Bay Area Rescue Mission.

What is your favorite Rosemary Wells book? My favorite book is Yoko, the story of a cute little Japanese cat who brings sushi for her school lunch. My daughter really enjoyed this story when she was young, and I even bought her a stuffed Yoko cat. Read To Young Bunny is a great book about reading to your loved one. 2010 Reviews:
A Read A Story volunteer read two books to the young children and their caretakers at the Bay Area Rescue Mission. The children listened to two stories about mice. The first book was "Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse" by Leo Lionni. This is a colorful book about a lonely mouse named Alexander who finds a toy mouse friend named Willy. At first, Alexander is a bit envious about the affection that Willy gets from Annie, since he is Annie's favorite toy. Later, Alexander finds out that Willy might be discarded after Annie gets new presents at her birthday party. Read this book to see what happens to the two friends!
The second mouse story is "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie," which is an enjoyable book about what happens to a mouse when you give him a cookie. This book was written by Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. The children will be delighted to find out about the mouse's adventure in this book when he asks for a cookie, a glass or milk and what can be next?
The children enjoyed the book, "Curious George Visits the Zoo," which was read by a volunteer. George, who was a curious little monkey, comes to the rescue, feeding bananas to the monkeys at the zoo. Find out what happens in this entertaining book!
I enjoyed reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle to young children. It is a fun board book with pages of different sizes with punched holes on some pages. It teaches children counting and also the days of the week. Also, the children can learn that a caterpillar transform into a beautiful butterfly. It's a good book to read to preschoolers!!
Do you like the book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" by Bill Martin Jr. and illustrated by Eric Carle. I think this is a great book to read to your child, especially children who are under 5. It is fun to read and easy for children to memorize. Your child can learn colors and after a few times, he or she will know what will come on the next page. Have a great day and enjoy reading to a child!
Here are a few of the books that Read A Story volunteers have read to children in WCCUSD schools and the Bay Area Rescue Mission in 2011:
Corduroy, Caps for Sale, Cookie's Week, The Mitten, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, Curious George Goes to the Zoo, David Goes to School, Biscuit, and A Snowy Day.
